Welcome everyone to another edition of the Doctor’s Note where we talk about what’s on our minds when it comes to your health.

In my practice, it is very common to hear people complain about inconclusive tests and multiple referrals that leave them hanging on the words “we don’t know what’s going on”. These patients not only feel a loss of time, but also a loss of hope, which isn’t true. There IS hope for diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune diseases.

In this week’s podcast, Margaux Cousturian, PA-C and Andy Rogers, PA-C share some groundbreaking advancements in the diagnosis and management of autoimmune diseases. Listen and learn about AVISE Testing, the game changer for diagnosing Lupus, Celiac disease, Hashimoto’s, Multiple Sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, Sjogren’s, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and more.

  • Autoimmune diseases are particularly challenging to diagnose due to their complex nature and overlapping symptoms. Traditional markers like ANA (Antinuclear Antibodies) tests often are not sufficient enough to provide a definitive diagnosis, leading many patients to go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. There’s a growing list of autoimmune diseases (105-106 at the time of this writing), each with individual markers.
  • AVISE testing offers a comprehensive and detailed look at multiple autoimmune diseases. Unlike traditional tests, AVISE can provide more specific and sensitive results by examining a wide range of autoantibodies and connective tissue diseases.
  • The AVISE panel that Performance Medicine is now offering is AVISE CTD (Connective Tissue Disease). The AVISE CTD covers a broad spectrum of autoimmune conditions like Lupus, Sjogren’s, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, Vasculitis, and many more.
  • The AVISE CTD tests for both Thyroglobulin Antibodies and TPO. It is important to test for both.
  • One of the significant advantages of AVISE testing is that it only uses two tubes of blood, with results coming back in five days.
  • This test pairs well with the Cell Core Cleanse. You can use AVISE to make sure we are reversing any autoimmunity and inflammation.

Autoimmune diseases are treatable. If you have vague overlapping symptoms and suspect an autoimmune condition, AVISE Testing is perfect for you. I highly recommend you contact Margaux Cousturian, PA-C, in our North Knoxville office to help guide you through the testing, diagnosis, and treatment plan. She has experience and a wealth of knowledge in the autoimmune world and is accessible both in office and via telemedicine. Having an answer and knowing exactly where to go is such a relief.

As always, do your own research. Stay educated. Stay healthy.

Till next week.
