Can You Take Too Many Vitamins?

Welcome to another edition of the Doctor’s Note where we talk about what’s on our minds when it comes to your health. As more people are engaging in the world of vitamins, the more frequently I am asked, “Can I take too many?”.

This question just recently popped up on our Performance Medicine Show LIVE Q&A. The clip we shared on this week’s podcast, not only answers that question but also unpacks the Doctor Rogers Super Vitamin, and other questions concerning dosing.

Education is key for optimal health. That is why we started the LIVE Q&A, so that YOU can ask questions about your health, and if we don’t have the answer, we will find out. The show is LIVE on all the platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn) every Tuesday night at 7pm. All you have to do is tune in and say “Hi, Ben” (best host ever!).

Back to the question. “Can you take too many vitamins?” The short answer is YES, but it would be difficult. Watch this video for details.

PODCAST NOTES

  1. Concerns about taking too much Vitamin D? It would be hard to, but I’ve seen Vitamin D levels get up to 130, which can predispose you to kidney stones. Check your levels! I generally recommend people to take 5,000 IU’s per day.

  2. Most multivitamins don’t have enough in them. They aren’t potent enough. That’s why I made my own SUPER VITAMIN. It has the right amounts of everything you need (including 5,000 IU’s of Vitamin D3).

  3. One serving of the Super Vitamin is 3 capsules. You can take all three at once, but make sure you take it with food. I take 2 during lunch and 1 at dinner to get the full amount. For a list of everything that’s in my Super Vitamin, click here

  4. Quercetin is great for the immune system.

  5. When taking Vitamin C, make sure you’re taking the most absorbable form (Liposomal).

  6. A methylated B-Complex is very important for energy. I really like the B vitamins.

I’m a firm believer in vitamins. I really like the B vitamins. Vitamins, like antioxidants, function to protect cells from environmental stressors, helping to support healthy aging. As for my favorites?  My top three are: Vitamin D w/ K, Omega 3’s, and Magnesium. Those three are great places to start, and then you can add from there depending on what your particular needs may be.

As always, do your own research.

Till next week.
