Welcome to another edition of the Doctor’s Note where we talk about what’s on our minds when it comes to your health.  

Since March 2020, when the World Health Organization (WHO) named the COVID-19 virus SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome), I’ve learned a lot about oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction. These keywords are associated with a wide range of inflammatory related diseases, such as Diabetes, Colitis, Crohn’s Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, and more. In this week’s podcast, entrepreneur Mike Vicars sheds some “light” on this subject (pun intended). 

Mike has a personal interest in preventing disease due to his experience reversing his own Type 2 diabetes. Using modalities such as red light therapy, pulsed electromagnetic field therapies, cold exposure, heat exposure, movement, and intermittent fasting, he was able to lower his A1C by 2 full points in 3 months and never go on medication. This is not only amazing, but exciting as well. Mike is now opening up a new wellness company called BioStacks (opening June 2024) that hopefully will help others do the same.

  • Light affects your body in profound ways. It regulates our circadian rhythm (or biological clock) which affects our cognition, blood pressure, immune system, metabolism and controls our sleep/wake cycle. 
  • The best way to get “light” is by the sun, but there are times when the weather does not cooperate. Clouds block the infrared rays. Artificial light called photomodulation is a great alternative. Very healthy!
  • BioStacks has red light therapy and near infrared light therapy, using a system called platinum light therapy lights. BioStacks has 1200 light exposure in the front and 1200 in the back, at the same time. 
  • There are seven different wavelengths of light. The red light is in the 600 nanometer range, visible light. This is great for your skin, collagen production, elastin, and fibrin. It also helps with Rosacea. 
  • The potential therapeutic benefits of light therapy are Covid, Long Covid, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Autism, PTSD, TBI, Anxiety, Depression, and ADHD. 
  • The Superhuman protocol is a three step process. 1) PureWave: Lay down on a pulsed electromagnetic field mat (PureWave) for 10 minutes. This is for charging your cells, alkalizing your blood, and separating your red blood cells, so there can be a tremendous amount of uptake of oxygen and nutrients. 2) Exercise with Oxygen therapy (EWatt): During this step you get on an exercise bike (or walk in place) with 93% oxygen. This will flood your organs and systems with oxygen. 3) Red Light Therapy: The red light drives oxygen deep into your cells and mitochondria. 
  • Cancer HATES oxygen! 
  • Contrast Therapy is alternating heat and cold exposure. BioStacks follows Dr. Susan Soeberg’s protocol: Start in the cold, then go back to the heat, then back to the cold and heat, and end in cold. If you end in the cold, your body has to heat itself back up, which burns calories.. 

I get excited when I find people like Mike Vicars who are paying it forward, helping people find alternative ways to stay healthy. Businesses like BioStacks are, in my opinion, life-changing. Restoring energy, focus, and vitality all the way down to the cellular level, can play a major role in preventing (or even reversing) disease.
